I thought this was going to be my first regular 10K. I did the Dirty Dash, which was a 10K, but it was a mud run and not timed. So the first runners for Love Your Body were routed the wrong way at a turn. They figured it out later and sent the majority of the runners the right way. Those of us that got sent the wrong way got to run an (almost) extra mile. My mom, being an optimist, said "That's okay, you really went the extra mile today." The part that was the bummer is that I walked a little right after my watch said 6.2 miles. I couldn't see the finish line in sight and I had tried to ramp it up between mile 5 and the end. It was very frustrating. After they adjusted times for the additional mile it showed me as 17th place overall and 2nd in my age group. So I ran 7.15 miles in 1:00. Pace was 8:20. Lessons learned...1. Things happen in races that you have no control over. 2. Just keep going and do your best regardless!
