Wasatch Back 2010. Leg 1.

Getting ready for my first leg of my first event EVER! I had no idea what to expect.
The hand off from Sheri to me. I started off way too fast. This was a good lesson in pacing myself.
Feeling pretty good at this point.
This leg was 7.35 miles in 1:21 at an 11 minute per mile pace. I was extremely disappointed in myself on this leg! I didn't want to walk any of my legs for Ragnar. My pace was just over an 8 minute mile for most of the leg until I had to walk. BUT I learned so much and I am so glad I did it. The course was harder than I expected. The distance was not long, but it was the conditions that made it difficult. It was in the middle of the hot day on a dirt road (had to focus on not twisting an ankle on the rocks), not enough to eat or drink and only 3 hrs of sleep the night before. AND it was ALL uphill. At one point on this leg, I determined that I could either collapse, or walk some of the leg. Great learning experience though.
